“When I’m by the sea I want nothing more, just to be there. It has the sense of an infinite present, and that is love at its strongest: an infinite present". The words of Claudio Magris embody the deep relationship with the sea felt by anyone born in Trieste, which this show aims to tell through the writings of Trieste authors, regular visitors to the swimming beaches - the "bagni" – dotted around the coast. The actors voice their reflections in Miramare Castle’s enchanting little harbour.
By Mauro Covacich, Gillo Dorfles, Marcello Leonardelli and Claudio Magris; presented by Franco Però; with Romina Colbasso, Andrea Germani, Jacopo Morra and Maria Grazia Plos.
Produced by Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste and the Miramare Castle Park and Museum.

Free admission (approximately 40 places). Booking essential.

Based on Gilberto Forti’s book of the same name, the show is performed indoors and outdoors this year, in the unusual setting of Miramare Park and Castle. It recalls the event that shook Europe and changed it forever, as seen by different characters - the assassination in Sarajevo of the heir to the Habsburg throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his wife Sofia on 28 June 1914. It created a spark that ignited the First World War.
By Gilberto Forti; with Emanuele Fortunati, Ester Galazzi, Francesco Migliaccio and Maria Grazia Plos; music by Johann Strauss Jr. and Franz Schubert, recorded by Quartetto Iris (Laura Furlan, violin; Emanuela Colagrossi, violin; Maria Lucia Dorfmann, viola; Cecilia Barucca Sebastiani, cello).
Produced by Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia in conjunction with the Municipality of Trieste and the Miramare Castle Park and Museum.

Maximum of 40 places available. Advance booking is strongly recommended.
