Marco Risi, son of the great director Dino Risi, is himself the director of Forever Mery, The Pack, Fortàpasc and the TV series L’ultimo padrino. He is the author of the marvellous book Forte respiro rapido, published by Mondadori. The meeting is presented in conjunction with the organising body of the Gorizia Sergio Amidei Award.

The Greek community has been an integral part of Trieste and its history since the 18th Century. The Orfeas group spreads a message of communion between peoples and cultures through song and dance. Appearing for the fourth time in Barcolana, it will "sail" throughout Greece, presenting the nation’s traditional dances.

Lorenzo Mattotti, born in Brescia but resident in Paris for many years, is the most famous Italian designer in the world. In 2000 he designed the poster for the Cannes Film Festival, and this year for Barcolana52. In October 2019 he illustrated the film version of Dino Buzzati's book The Bears' Famous Invasion of Sicily, to enthusiastic reviews from critics and public alike.
